CAIRO - 6 October 2022: Egypt has opened the first care home for blind elderly women within the framework of the celebrations of the Charitable Investment Fund to support people with disabilities. 
 
"We aim to provide a safe home for every blind elderly woman," said Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbaj as that the Charitable Investment Fund to Support People with Disabilities contributes to financing the first care home for blind elderly women. 
 
She added,"the Ministry works to support and integrate people with disabilities in all aspects of social and economic life... and to help them live independently to a large extent."

Within the framework of the celebrations of the Ministry of Social Solidarity for the elderly on the occasion of their International Day, Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nasser Social Bank, the founder of the Charitable Investment Fund to Support People with Disabilities witnessed the celebration of the Fund and the Al-Noor and Al-Amal Association for the opening of the first care home for blind elderly women under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
 
The Minister of Social Solidarity expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Charitable Investment Fund to support people with disabilities, saying: “We see the beginning of the first home for blind elderly women, and the lesson is to find a full and dignified life for them, not only food, drink and care, but a life in which we protect them from loneliness or isolation sometimes, after they reach the age of sixty years old without having a shelter."
 
She went on explaining that the Fund signed a cooperation protocol with the Al-Nour and Al-Amal Association with the aim of providing a safe home for every blind elderly woman.
 
The Minister of Social Solidarity pointed out that one of the objectives of the Fund is to rehabilitate and care for persons with disabilities, adding that the celebration of the elderly is throughout the year and not only in October, and that they have all respect, love, friendliness and reverence. 
 
Al-Kabbaj promised to complete the founding work of the Al-Noor and Al-Amal Association, raise the efficiency of its means of subsistence and strengthen the printing house, library and nursery, and called on civil society and businessmen to provide more support to the institution.
 
It is worth mentioning that the home provides comprehensive accommodation for disabled women, 24 hour internal supervision, and specialized programs with psychological and social support offered by specialists in addition to full health care.
 
The home also provides many cultural, recreational and social activities such as holding parties and trips for blind elderly women as a kind of support for them.
