CAIRO - 22 September 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, the President-Designate of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), which was headed by the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, indicated that Minister Shoukry was keen in his speech to express appreciation to the Chinese side for holding this meeting which provides a platform for exchanging experiences and expertise in various developmental, including the eradication of poverty and hunger and the strengthening of South-South cooperation, with the aim of accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

In this context, the Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's conviction of the necessity of strengthening international partnerships in the field of development and reviewing international cooperation mechanisms in a way that ensures the achievement of sustainable development goals at the various social, economic and environmental levels.
