FM Shoukry discuss Climate Change, COP27 with Singaporean Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean

CAIRO – 12 September 2022: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Monday with Singaporean Senior Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Chairman for the inter-ministerial committee on Climate Change Teo Chee Hean.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on twitter: “Shoukry received Singaporean Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security & Chairman for the inter-ministerial committee on Climate Change…Discussions focused on COP27 success factors, identifying priorities, access to finance & technology.”

 

On Sunday, Shoukry discussed the file of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) with UN Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Hanna Tetteh in a Cairo meeting.

 

Shoukry warned that the continuity of the status quo regarding the mega dam represents an element of instability that threatens the interests of the peoples of the region, not only now, but also of the next generations.

The foreign minister highlighted Egypt’s fixed stance adhering to the need to reach a comprehensive agreement on GERD as soon as possible.
