CAIRO - 5 September 2022: The Health and Population Ministry said 340,333 decisions were issued during August 2022 to treat patients, especially underprivileged Egyptians, at state expense at a total cost of over LE 1.415 billion.

The decisions covered patients suffering from blood diseases, tumors and other diseases, the ministry's Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghafar said Monday.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Zidan, the head of Egypt's Specialized Medical Councils, reviewed the measures that should be taken by patients to be treated at state expense.

The Egyptian cabinet's Higher Medical and Relief Committee said in a report on Sunday, a total of 202 patients were granted permission to receive medical treatment at the state's expense in August, and 109 surgeries were performed free of charge.

The committee’s efforts also included performing 96 tumour removal and gamma knife surgeries for cancer patients, installing prosthetic limbs and prosthetic devices for 37 disabled people and providing medicines to 44 emergency requests posted on social media, El-Masry noted.

At the cabinet's meeting on Sunday, the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, according to the statement, stressed the importance of continuing these efforts to alleviate the suffering of patients and their families as a way of implementing of the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to provide comprehensive and decent health care for the people of Egypt.
