CAIRO – 16 August 2022: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the president-designate of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), stressed Tuesday the need for collective global efforts to deliver on climate pledges and turn them into reality.

In a speech he addressed via video-conference to the inaugural session of a regional meeting of the Caribbean countries on climate change in the Bahamas, he underlined the keenness of the Egyptian presidency of COP27 to strengthen cooperation with all parties concerned with international climate action.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said the top diplomat’s address shed light in Egypt's vision as the president and host of COP27 as well as the most prominent topics tabled on the global conference's agenda.

Shoukry reviewed the Egyptian vision for its presidency of the UN conference, including the importance of moving from promises to actual implementation on the ground and mobilizing the needed support for global climate action as well as increasing climate finance to developing countries to enable them to fulfill their commitments.
