CAIRO – 9 August 2022: The Libyan News Agency reported Tuesday the arrival of the first EgyptAir flight to Mitiga airport, located in the capital Tripoli, after an eight-year hiatus.

EgyptAir had declared Sunday the operation of temporary flights between Sharm El Sheikh International Airport and Mitiga airport until October 11 in order to transport Libyan tourist groups to and from the Egyptian resort town.

Similarly, Syrian Air announced earlier in August introducing Damascus-Cairo-Damascus lights on Tuesdays and Fridays raising the number of flights between the two Arab capitals to seven per week.

EgyptAir had announced that it had passed the GHS Safety Test, which took place on July 3-7 and assessed operation systems pertaining to aviation, quality and safety control, security systems, data analysis of flights, ground handling, air freight, and training delivered to workers.

Head of the Safety and Quality Sector at EgyptAir Mohamed Badawy said that the airline is eager for abiding by the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and those of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA).

On his side, President and CEO of GHS Aviation Group George Snyder valued the cooperation with EgyptAir, which began five years ago, and commended the company for implementing all previous recommendations.

Snyder further noted that GHS' endorsement of EgyptAir's safety would bolster the confidence of insurance company in cooperating with the airline.

For the first time, the Cabinet approved earlier in July the issuance of commemorative circulating coins (one pound and fifty piaster coins) for a national commercial company, which is EgyptAir, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary.

EgyptAir celebrates on May 7 of every year with passengers by offering souvenirs, discounts, and launching an advertising campaign relevant to the event.
