CAIRO - 14 June 2022: President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is expected to arrive in Cairo on Wednesday as part of a regional trip, including Egypt.

During her visit, the senior EU official will meet with senior Egyptian officials to discuss Egypt-EU relations and regional as well as regional issues of mutual concern.

Meanwhile, EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson will visit Egypt tomorrow Tuesday to probe ways to promote energy cooperation during several meetings with Egyptian officials.

The high-profile visits come few days before the meeting of the Egypt-EU participation council on June 19 in Luxembourg to approve the document of priorities for participation until 2027.

The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
