CAIRO - 29 May 2022: Any newborn suffering from hearing problems will be cured at state expense, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.

In a phone call with Egyptian channel 1, Abdel Ghaffar said Egypt is among few states that conduct hearing screening for all newborns whether Egyptians or from other nationalities.

Early detection of hearing problems in children and suitable intervention to deal with these problems by the age of five means that 95% of those children will enter normal schools without the need to enter special schools for deaf persons.
