Egypt’s FM heads for Davos to participate in World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022

CAIRO – 22 May 2022: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, President-designate of Sharm el-Sheikh Climate Change Conference (COP 27), headed Sunday evening, the Swiss city of Davos to participate in the activities of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022, which kicked off on Sunday and will last until May 26.
 
Shoukry is scheduled to participate in the event at the forum under the title “The Road to the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC: Partnerships between the public and private sectors in climate action in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez in a statement.
 
The Egyptian Minister is also scheduled to meet with a number of senior officials from various countries and parties participating in the forum on the sidelines of its activities, to consult on the ongoing work to prepare for COP 27 that would be held in the Egyptian city Sharm El Sheikh on November 7-18.
 
Shoukry would also discuss ways of cooperation to enhance international climate action at various levels, especially with regard to adaptation measures and mitigating climate change’s negative repercussions, in addition to providing climate finance and implementing climate pledges.
