CAIRO – 9 May 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi contacted Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud via phone, where he was reassured about the king's health condition.

This comes as King Salman was admitted to hospital for medical examinations.

During the phone call, Sisi wished the king, the custodian of the two holy mosques, continued health and wellness, President Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

King Salman, for his part, expressed appreciation for the president's sincere wishes, stressing the depth and specificity of the Egyptian-Saudi relations and the solid and extended relations that unite their two peoples.

In March, Egypt and Saudi Arabia affirmed mutual stances on many regional issues in a joint statement after a meeting for Sisi with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh.

They have agreed on mutual stances regarding the Middle East peace process, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), as well as the situation in Yemen, Lebanon, and Sudan.
