CAIRO – 28 April 2022: Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Immigration, Refugees and Combating Human Trafficking, Nevin Al-Husseini, participated, Thursday in a side event titled ‘Social and Economic Integration in National Services and Development Programs: Best Practices from Egypt and Iraq’

The event reviewed Egypt's efforts in the context of hosting Syrian refugees, on the sidelines of the Sixth Brussels Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region.

The event highlighted the services provided by the Egyptian government to Syrian refugees in the fields of health and education, and introducing national efforts to support refugees in Egypt, in addition to showing a short documentary film that reflects the social and economic integration of Syrian refugees in Egypt and the basic services provided by the government.

In her speech, Al-Husseini stressed the importance of increasing international support for the Egyptian government in light of its hosting of large numbers of refugees and migrants in refugee-like conditions of various nationalities, including Syrian refugees, and the importance of supporting government institutions that provide basic services to refugees, especially in the fields of education and health. To serve not only the refugee communities but also the Egyptian host communities.
