Egypt’s PM follows up efforts to provide local market with strategic commodities

CAIRO – 19 April 2022: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli presided on Tuesday over a meeting to follow up on the provision of strategic goods and production materials to the domestic market.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el Moselhi, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation ElSayyed el Quseir, Minister of Trade and Industry Nivene Gamea and officials of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Madbouli said the meeting is part of efforts to follow up on means to provide sufficient essential goods for citizens, especially wheat, rice, sugar, oil, meat, chickens and fish and ensure that strategic stocks are at safe levels in the aftermath of the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

The prime minister stressed the importance of coordination among all ministries concerned in cooperation with the CBE to provide enough commodities to meet public demand and avoid causing any shortages in the domestic market upon the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
