Egypt exempts Sudanese expats from fines for delaying renewal of residence permits

CAIRO – 3 April 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has ordered to exempt thee Sudanese expats in Egypt from fines or fees for delaying the renewal of their residence permits, said Sudanese General Consul to Egypt Ahmed Adly Imam in a statement on Sunday.
 
The Consul added that the decision came after President Sisi’s meeting with Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on March 30, 2022.
 
The Consul continued that the Sudanese community in Egypt has been given a six-month period to rectify their residential status.
 
Egypt is hosting more than four million Sudanese people, said Al-Burhan in a press conference with President Sisi on March 30, 2022.
 
“Our duty is not to allow anything to hat disturb the eternal relations between Egypt and Sudan. We went through a transitional period in Sudan, but it faltered due to international interventions, the absence of political forces and many conflicts.” Burhan said.
