Angola’s FM hands President Sisi written message from João Lourenço

CAIRO – 29 March 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that Egypt attaches importance to bolstering its relations with Angola in various fields, especially with regard to trade and investment, joint security and military cooperation, as well as technical cooperation and capacity building.

During meeting with Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs Téte António, Tuesday in Cairo, Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness to augment coordination and consultation with Angola as well as with President João Lourenço in person.

According to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Angola’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ana Paula, and Angola Ambassador in Cairo Nelson Manuel attended the meeting.

Egypt’s president also noted to enhancing cooperation between both countries and to discuss new ways to strength mechanisms for joint African action, whether at the institutional, political or development levels; in a way that contributes to achieving the growth and stability African countries have aspired to, Rady said.

Meanwhile, the Angolan foreign minister handed a written message to Sisi from Angola’s leader, in which João Lourenço affirmed his country’s aspiration to boosting its relations with Egypt and propel frameworks of joint cooperation at the official and public levels, particularly in the economic and trade fields.

The Angolan leader lauded President Sisi’s active role in addressing African issues, especially within the framework of efforts meant to advance development as well as to maintain peace and security in Africa.

Lourenço added that Luanda is looking forward to working with Cairo to confront several challenges experienced by Africa, which he said requires concerted African efforts through revitalizing mechanisms of joint African action, especially at the level of the African Union.

The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on a number of regional files of common interest, as well as ways to rally efforts exerted by Egypt and Angola to combat terrorism and the extremist ideology in Africa, particularly via promoting security cooperation among the bodies concerned in both countries
