CAIRO – 27 March 2022:  Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a video call from Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi. They discussed the bilateral ties and the 8th summit of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) due to convene this year in Tunisia.
 
The Spokesperson of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said that both Ministers discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
 
They discussed ways to continue advancing the bilateral relations in the fields of culture, investment and trade, said Hafez, adding that both sides tackled aspects of enhancing coordination and cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the TICAD.
 
The 8th summit of the TICAD is due to convene in Tunisia this year, said Hafez, continuing that it important that the summit sed light on the aspects of enhancing the economies of African countries amid various challenges they face when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic and recent international developments.
 
The two ministers also discussed ongoing efforts to prepare for Egypt's next hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) due to take place in Sharm El-Sheikh on November 2022.
