CAIRO – 9 February 2022: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Wednesday a phone call from his Algerian counterpart Abdel Meguid Taboun as they discussed regional developments of mutual interest, particularly the updates of the Libyan crisis.

Both presidents agreed to boost coordination over the matter, while having as a goal the implementation of the willpower of the Libyan people. That is through supporting Libyan state institutions, and backing ongoing efforts aimed at achieving peace and security as well as preserving the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

In another context, President Sisi said that he looks forward to bolstering bilateral cooperation with Algeria in the realms of trade exchange, investment, defense, and security. He noted that the coming meeting of the Supreme Egyptian-Algerian Committee – encompassing the prime ministers of both states - will give a push to economic relations.
