Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed receives President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Abu Dhabi’s Al-Watan Palace – Egyptian Presidency
CAIRO – 26 January 2022: Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Mohamed bin Zayed voiced appreciation of Egypt’s role under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to protect Arab national security and defend Arab nations, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said on Wednesday.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed made the remarks during a meeting with Sisi in Abu Dhabi’s Al-Watan Palace.
Meeting with Sisi, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed praised Egypt’s continued efforts to establish regional security and stability based on Egypt’s pivotal role regionally.
Sisi affirmed Egyptian-Emirati relations and Egypt’s keenness to develop close bilateral cooperation and coordination for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples and the Arab nation.
This comes especially by intensifying the pace of bilateral meetings between senior officials from both countries periodically to coordinate actively and mutually towards the successive developments currently taking place in the Middle East region, Sisi said.
This also seeks to strengthen the unity of ranks and joint Arab and Islamic action in facing various regional challenges, the president added.
The President also stressed that his current visit to the UAE comes as a continuation of the course of the close and distinguished relations that bind the two countries and the single destiny and future that they share.
Sisi expressed the solidarity of the Egyptian government and people with the sisterly UAE in light of the recent terrorist incident, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of civilians.
The president affirmed Egypt’s condemnation of any terrorist act committed by the Houthi militia to target the security, stability and safety of the sisterly UAE and its citizens.
He also voiced Egypt’s support for the UAE measures to deal with any terrorist act targeting the country, within the framework of Egypt's firm position in supporting the security and stability of the UAE and the close link between Egyptian national security and the security of the sisterly UAE.
The meeting discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and witnessed consultations on the regional issues of common interest, especially Libya and Yemen. The meeting agreed that the paths of political solutions are the basis for resolving these issues.
Sisi stressed the constants of the Egyptian position towards settling regional crises, which is based mainly on undermining foreign interference, combating violence and extremist and terrorist groups, and preserving national state institutions, with the aim of restoring security and stability in countries that suffer from those crises.
The two sides affirmed that they will continue to work together in order to confront regional interference and attempts to sow division among the countries of the region.
They also agreed to cooperate to confront the risks and challenges facing the Arab region, especially terrorism and the countries that support it.
Sisi stressed that the security of the Gulf states is an extension to the Egyptian national security, stressing effectively confronting the threats facing the Gulf.
