CAIRO - 26 January 2022: Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abd el-Atti discussed during a video conference meeting Wednesday with Netherlands Special Envoy for International Water Affairs Henk Ovink and his accompanying delegation ways of promoting the United Nations (UN)'s efforts to support water issues and face up to negative impacts of climate change on the water sector.

Abdel el-Atti also held a video conference meeting with Prof Asit K. Biswas, Director of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and Professor of water and hydrologic resources at Glasgow University, during which the minister highlighted the importance of climate change-related issues, along with their negative impact on water resources and food production.

The two officials lauded Egypt's efforts toward realizing sustainable development, especially in areas suffering water scarcity, along with the Egyptian government's efforts in lining canals and converging to modern irrigation methods; thus rendering Egypt a model to follow in the water management domain.
