CAIRO - 12 January 2022: Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad stressed that Egypt has taken effective procedures to face the climate change problem although Egypt’s emissions are only 0.6% of these emissions worldwide.

Speaking to Sada Al Balad TV channel, the minister reiterated on Tuesday that the fourth edition of the World Youth Forum shed light on the climate change issue after it was also discussed in the previous edition in 2019.

She hopes that participants at the forum could reach effective recommendations to face the impact of climate change which affects the food issue.

It is expected that the climate change impacts could cause losses worth $300-500 billion between 2030 and 2050, the minister warned.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said that the coming eight years are crucial to combat climate change, stressing salience of cooperation between governments and the private sector.

The president was commenting on the panelists' talk in the discussion titled “The Pathway from Glasgow to Sharm El Sheikh: Combating Climate Change,” held on the second day of the fourth edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF). It is noted that Sharm El Sheikh will also host COP27 later in 2022.
