CAIRO – 1 December 2021: The South Korean Ambassador to Cairo Hong Jin-Wook visited the headquarters of the Egyptian Space Agency, Tuesday, where he praised the Egyptian efforts and capabilities, and pushed for furthering bilateral cooperation in space sector.

Ambassdaor Wook’s visit came in response to an invitation by Dr. Mohamed El- Qusi, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, and his team.

He began with a tour of the agency's facilities, which included a visit to the AIT building and the agency's laboratories, as well as to the Space City and the headquarters of the African Space Agency currently under construction.

The South Korean Ambassador stressed the importance of the space sector and the need to push forward space cooperation between the two countries, especially since Korea has chosen Egypt as a priority country in the partnership and official development assistance during the next five years.

In this regard, the ambassador suggested signing a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between space-related agencies in both countries, pointing to the possibility of tripartite cooperation in this field, especially with Egypt's existing cooperation in this field with a number of African countries.

The ambassador also suggested other cooperation projects, including developing a space application for educational purposes, to benefit students in Egypt as well as African countries.

For his part, El-Qusi expressed his thanks to the ambassador for his visit, which reflects the close and continuous relations between Egypt and Korea that extend for more than 25 years. El-Qusi gave a detailed explanation of the agency's activities and possible areas of cooperation in the field of space science and technology, which he hopes to achieve in the near future.
