CAIRO - 10 July 2017: Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazy met on Monday with Somali army commander Ahmed Mohamed Gomaali and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Hegazy pointed out to the deep historical relations binding the two brotherly peoples of Egypt and Somalia in general and their Armed Forces in particular.

He also expressed hope that the coming phase would witness more cooperation and joint integration in many military fields, including countering abhorrent terrorism which has threatened security and stability of many countries in the region.

The meeting tackled local and regional developments and their implications on regional security and stability.

For his part, the Somali army commander asserted his country's keenness on strengthening military cooperation with Egypt in order to counter terrorism and any possible threat on the Somalian national security along with achieving joint interest of both countries.

An official reception was held for the commander of the Somali army, followed by high-level talks on a number of issues of bilateral interest and attended by a number of army officials
