CAIRO - 5 October 2021: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Tuesday laid wreaths on the tombs of the unknown soldier and presidents Anwar Sadat and Gamal Abdel Nasser as Egypt marks the 48th anniversary of the October War victory.

Earlier in the day, Sisi also chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, said presidential spokesman Bassam Radi.

Noteworthy, ‘October War’, also known as the ‘1973 Arab–Israeli War’, was a war fought by the coalition of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria against Israel from October 6 to 25, 1973.

The war eventually led to Israeli forces withdrawing from the Sinai Peninsula on 25 April 1982 after 15 years of occupation, based on a peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel in 1979.
