CAIRO - 5 September 2020: Egypt received a second batch of the COVID-19 Johnson & Johnson vaccine (525,600 doses) on Saturday evening, announced Health Minister Hala Zayed in a statement on Sunday.
 
The shipment arrived in Egypt as part of the initiative reached between the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) and UNICEF for the African Union countries. The initiative aims at securing access to up to 400 million doses of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine for the AU member states.
 
The Ministry of Health affirmed the importance of cooperation with international organizations to confront the pandemic and provide vaccines to citizens, noting that the new shipment will be distributed to 776 centers nationwide.
 
He added the new shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be distributed to the centers that vaccinate citizens who seek travel out of the country.
 
Citizens are invited to register at the ministry's website (http://www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg/).
 
On August 9, 2021, Egypt received the first patch of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine against coronavirus. The shipment included 21,600 doses.
 
A total of 331 new coronavirus cases were detected in Egypt over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 289,684, said the Egyptian  Health Ministry in a statement on Saturday evening. 
 

Meanwhile, ten patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,776, the statement said.

As many as 439 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 241,415, the statement added. 
 
Egypt has announced it has entered the fourth wave of Coronavirus as infection rates climbed up. The Ministry of Health also announced that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus.
 
The Ministry explained that all of the five vaccines have emergency approvals from the Egyptian Medicines Authority. The vaccines are: Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Johnson& Johnson and Sinovac.
 
The Ministry of Health and Population continues to raise its preparations in all governorates of the Republic, follow up on the situation first-hand regarding the virus, and take all necessary preventive measures.
