Head of Egypt’s mission to Tripoli and many Libyan ministers meet to discuss preparations to reopen the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli – Egyptian Foreign Ministry

CAIRO – 25 August 2021: Head of Egypt’s mission to Tripoli Tamer Mostafa and a number of Libyan ministers discussed preparations to reopen the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli and the consulate in Benghazi.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, this step comes as a confirmation of Egypt’s continuous support to the stability in Libya.

The meeting included the Libyan ministers of foreign affairs, planning, oil and gas, housing, labor and economy, according to the statement.

Officials at the meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and means to continue boosting them.

They also discussed the reconstruction process in light of the Egyptian experiences and competencies and the possibility to benefit from the Egyptian experience in different fields.

This comes in light of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to provide all capabilities in this regard, the statement read.

The meeting also discussed the Egyptian efforts to support Libya in the face of coronavirus and the continuity of the ground bridge to transfer liquified oxygen from Egypt to the Libyan territories under the supervision of the Libyan Health Ministry.

The meeting stressed Egypt's support for Libya and the efforts to work on implementing the road map and the stipulated entitlement, leading Libyans to hold the legislative and presidential elections next December.

Last April, Egypt’s Prime Minster Moustafa Madbouly and Head of the National Unity Government Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh signed 11 MoUs to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

During his visit to Tripoli, Madbouly met with Dbeibeh and discussed booting relations between the two countries along with preserving stability and security in Libya.
