Egypt records 131 new coronavirus cases, 9 deaths in past 24 hours

CAIRO - 20 August 2021:  The Health Ministry said on Thursday that 131 new coronavirus cases were detected in Egypt over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 285,831.
 

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said nine patients died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,647.

As many as 439 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 235,317, he added.
 
President Advisor for Health and Prevention affairs Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din said Monday that no mutations for coronavirus have been detected in Egypt so far.
 
He added that there is a slight increase in Coronavirus infections, whereas the patients showing mild to medium symptoms.
 
Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced, Monday, that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus.
 
The Ministry explained that all of the five vaccines have emergency approvals from the Egyptian Medicines Authority.
 
 Megahed had noted that the available vaccines are: Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Johnson& Johnson, and Sinovac.
 
He called on all citizens to register online [http://www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg] and get vaccinated against COVID-19.
