CAIRO – 11 August 2021: Minister of Health and Population Dr. Hala Zayed delivered a presentation on the latest developments related to the Corona virus locally and globally, saying that Egypt will receive batches of three vaccines this month.

Minister Zayed made her statements during the cabinet meeting chaired by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, which was held today in the new city of El Alamein, also trackling the latest developments in the transmission of variable delta versus other infectious diseases, and the World Health Organization report on The virus and international vaccination targets.

The Minister of Health and Population touched on the current situation of supplying “AstraZeneca”, “Sinovac”, “Sinopharma”, “Sputnik”, and “Johnson & Johnson” vaccines to Egypt, pointing out that doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines are scheduled to arrive during the month of August.

Regarding the situation of oxygen, Dr. Hala Zayed highlighted the report of the World Health Organization, which indicated that there are 29 countries suffering from an increased need for oxygen due to the surge in infection numbers, which would create a shortage in medicines and life-saving supplies, and that the organization supported 117 countries with oxygen concentrators and generators.

The Minister of Health and Population further explained that Egypt was able during the last period to provide places for strategic storage of oxygen in times of abundance, to re-withdraw it during the crisis, with a total of 3.38 million liters, noting that the steps taken by the Egyptian government to rationalize oxygen consumption and governance of the system resulted in the transfer of Egyptian expertise to the Arab sister countries.
