Sisi hails Handball National team performance in Olympics, says ‘Egypt is proud of your achievement’

CAIRO – 5 August 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi hailed the handball national team ‘honorable performance’ in their game against France, which they lost 27-23 on Thursday in the semi-final’s competition of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

“Greetings of pride and appreciation to our national handball team for the heroic and honorable performance against the French team in the semi-finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as they provided the perfect example of the spirit of strength and determination until the last moment of the match.” Sisi wrote on his social media accounts.

He addressed the team saying: “Egypt is proud of your great achievement, your incredible determination and heroic performance.”

Sisi also assured his ‘full and comprehensive support in sponsoring Egyptian sports and youth’.

 “Thank you.. you have honored us and made us happy.” Sisi wrote.

 

Egypt men's handball team lost to France 27-23 on Thursday in the semi-finals of the handball competition of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The National team will face Spain in the bronze-medal match on Saturday at 10:00 AM.

"I really hope that we reach the podium on Saturday because that is what this team deserves. This is what we deserve, this is our level, this is not only luck or a part of our team that we're boosting. I feel that this will be our level for the next years." Egypt's Yahia Khaled spoke after the game against France.
