Cairo moves up 96 spots on ‘2thinknow’ Innovation Cities Index for 2021, ranks 1st in Africa

CAIRO - 2 August 2021: Cairo has moved up 96 spots to rank the 208 on the ‘2thinknow’ Innovation Cities Index for 2021, Egypt’s Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) revealed Sunday.

Meanwhile, Alexandria has come the 272nd on same index, which covers 500 cities worldwide, according to an infographic published by the IDSC.

“Cairo came 208th in the Innovation Cities Index 2021 among 500 cities around the world.” IDSC announced on Social Media accounts.

It was added that “Alexandria occupied the 272nd place in the same index. Tokyo, Boston and New York reserved the index's top 3 places in the 2THINKNOW's World's Most Innovative Cities Rankings. The index measures the conditions for innovation through 162 standard indicators.”

The two Egyptian cities have topped the list at the African level.

Tokyo claimed the first place in the list of the world’s most innovative cities, followed by Boston and New York in the United States.

The ‘2thinknow’ Innovation Cities Program is about growing urban innovation economies worldwide. The program is an evidence-based city development program, for economic and social development of cities.

It provides resources for building offering full city benchmarking data, segment case studies and other resources.
