CAIRO - 31 July 2020: Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed said her ministry started issuing accredited certificates for those who got Covid-19 vaccines as of today.

Some 126 offices nationwide will be responsible for issuing the certificates for those willing to obtain them, Zayed said.

In a statement on Saturday, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said the certificates will be issued for EGP 100 for Egyptians and $10 for non-Egyptians.

He noted that those certificates are fully secured as they have been released by the secured and smart documents complex with QR Codes. When these codes are scanned by mobile phones, the certificate holder’s data, photo and status as regards the virus vaccine will appear.

Work is underway to finalize a mobile application named “Egypt Health Passport” to be used at airports. Passengers will register their data then the application will be able to recognize their vaccine certificates and show whether they are vaccinated or not.

The Health Ministry said 45 new coronavirus cases were detected on Thursday, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 284,215.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said four patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,518.

As many as 545 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 229,712 so far, the spokesman said.
