CAIRO – 8 July 2017: Complaints by human rights associations and Qatari courts increase in response to the Qatari regime’s recent ban on annual leave for employees in government-run companies, according to Qatari opposition leader Khaled el-Hail via Twitter on Friday.

In a series of tweets, Al-Hail said that “private and public companies banned their workers from taking annual leave based on the unpublished decision of Qatar’s government.”

He clarified that the ban will ensure the continued production related to the infrastructure projects in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Al-Hail added, “The Qatari regime thinks that the (imposed) ban saves the economy while they don’t care about breaching international documents of human rights.”

In early June, several countries including Egypt, along with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates severed diplomatic ties with Doha over accusations of Qatar backing terrorist groups.

The countries closed airspace and maritime ports to Doha transportations.
