Egypt seeks WHO’s approval to locally-made Sinovac vaccine

CAIRO – 16 June 2021: Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed said that Egypt looks forward to obtain approval to the locally-made anti-COVID vaccine “Sinovac” that will be soon produced from Egyptian medical factories.

 

This came during Zayed’s meeting with WHO’s director-general Tedros Adhanom, where she reviewed Egypt’s efforts to manufacture anti-COVID vaccine locally through contracting with Chinese company Sinovac.

 

Minister Zayed further seeks to get WHO’s approval for Vacsera factory as one of the factories producing COVID vaccines, and meet WHO Qualifications.

 

Egypt has passed the peak of the third COVID-19 wave, as the infection rate began to decrease by 20 percent.

 

Egypt recorded 609 new infections with Coronavirus, 37 deaths, while 911 recovered and were discharged from isolation hospitals.
