CAIRO - 2 June 2020: The Health Ministry said Tuesday night that 956 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 263,606.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 40 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15,136.

As many as 711 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 192,823 so far, the spokesman said.

gypt has passed the peak of the third COVID-19 wave, as the infection rate began to decrease by 20 percent, stated a member of the Scientific Committee to combat Coronavirus at the Ministry of Health Mohamed el-Nady.

In statements to DMC TV channel, El-Nady explained that the early concern about the situation “bore fruit, especially with this wave being more severe than the previous ones.”

 El-Nady assured that there is no efficient treatment thus far for COVID-19; however there are some medications and protocols that help in recovery stage.

He further called on everyone to abide by precautionary measures and apply to get vaccinated to overcome the pandemic.
