CAIRO – 14 May 2021: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry conferred by phone on Friday with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman El Safadi on the latest development in the Palestinian territories as part of continued consultation and coordination between the two countries.
During the talks, the two ministers underlined the importance of continuing work to find immediate means of halting clashes in Gaza Strip and preventing any further provocations in the occupied city of Al Quds along with other moves to maintain the rights of the Palestinian people.
Shoukry and Safadi agreed that current incidents proved the necessity of taking a serious action to resume the Middle East peace talks, a matter which could create a genuine political horizon for ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through a just and permanent solution leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to maintaining stability in the Middle East region.
The two top diplomats asserted that they would continue contacts with concerned parties and the international community with the aim of accelerating an end to the current confrontation in the territories and push forward in the way of realizing a comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict
On his Twitter account, Safadi blamed Israeli for the escalation of the clashes after his call with Shoukry.
