CAIRO, May 11 (MENA) - Presidential Adviser for Health Affairs Mohamed Awad Tageldine urged citizens to abide by precautionary and preventive measures during Eid Al-Fitr vacation.

In statements to Extra News TV on Tuesday, Tageldine asserted that social distancing, wearing masks and all hygiene measures are very important to ban the spread of coronavirus in light of the recent hike in the daily infections during Ramadan month.

The state is currently working hard to follow up, detect and ban the spread of the Indian strain of the virus, which is highly dangerous and more fatal and warnings are rising to curb it, he added.

Authorities concerned are closely monitoring the airports and harbors to conduct PCR tests on travelers in a bid to diagnose any suspected cases that might likely come from India, he noted.

He urged all citizens specially the elders to start to respond to the vaccination campaigns as inoculation in the current phase could decrease serious infections that require hospitalization.

The presidential adviser recommended that vaccination campaigns similar to the polio campaigns could be launched in the coming phase to jab the elders, a matter which could decrease the pressure on the medical sector.
