Egypt reports 1,150 new coronavirus cases, 68 fatalities in 24 hours

CAIRO - 11 May 2020: Egypt has detected 1,150 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 238,560.


In a statement by the Health Ministry, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 68 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 13,972.

As many as 677 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 177,440 so far, the spokesman said.

The recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals has reached 74.4 percent, after the number of people recovering from the virus increased to 176763 cases, according to the Ministry of Health's statement.

The Ministry of Health and Population said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient's recovery from the Corona virus.

The ministry stated that the total number of infections that was registered in Egypt thus far is 237410 cases, including 176763cases that have been cured, and 13904 deaths

1.7 million doses shipment of AstraZeneca vaccine expected to arrive Egypt, Monday through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX), the Health Ministry announced.
