CAIRO - 4 May 2020: The Cabinet issued decisions regarding Sham El-Nessim celebrations in the governorates to prevent crowdedness in streets and public places, to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus and preserve the safety of citizens.

The decisions also stressed the necessity of committing to the pre-set occupancy rates at restaurants and cafes, committing to social distancing, the continued closure of beaches across the republic, and the closure of public parks.

In Alexandria governorate, the executive authorities implemented these measures on all beaches and parks.

Alexandria governorate continues to close beaches and tighten control over them to prevent gatherings and congestion on Sham El-Nessim vacation, in order to preserve the safety of citizens.

Gamal Rashad, head of the Central Administration for Tourism and Resorts in Alexandria, confirmed that a plan has been drawn up to deploy inspectors from the administration at all the shores of the governorate, starting from Abu Qir Beach in the east to Sidi Kerir, to ensure the implementation of the governmental decisions.

An inspection plan has also been drawn up for all cafes and restaurants that are subject to the supervision of the Central Administration for Tourism and Resorts on May 2 and 3, prohibiting parties to reduce congestion and gatherings.

Muhammad al-Sharif, governor of Alexandria, made a surprise tour in Al-Ajami neighborhood, late at night, to follow up on the extent of commitment to implementing the precautionary and preventive measures taken by state agencies to limit the spread of the Corona pandemic and follow-up compliance with the closing hours of shops, restaurants and cafes.
