CAIRO - 2 May 2020: The Health Ministry said late Saturday that 1,032 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 228,584.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 63 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 13,402

As many as 769 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 171,542 so far, the spokesman said.

Egypt will receive new batches of anti-coronavirus vaccines in the coming few days to enhance its reserve ,which reached so far 2.5 million doses of vaccines from different manufacturing companies.
 
Over the past few days, Egypt received 900,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine to be added to 1.6 million doses, bringing the total to 2.5 million doses, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson Khaled Megahed told Youm7 on Saturday.
 
He added that one more million doses of the Sinopharm will arrive in mid-May, noting that 2.5 million doses of Chinese Sinovac vaccine will be received as well, including 500,000 doses will be used urgently.
 
Megahed continued that 1.7 million doses of the AstraZenka vaccine will be received on May 9 from International Federation of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers (Gavi).
