Health Ministry warns against abandoning COVID-19 precautionary measures

CAIRO – 26 April 2021: Egypt’s Ministry of Health warned against negligence in following the precautionary measures of coronavirus especially during the current period.

The Ministry added in statement, Monday that the world is witnessing a hike in infections by nearly 10 percent, as the rate death due to the virus has increased by 7 percent during the third wave.

The Ministry indicated that the current month of April is witnessing increase in the number of infections in Egypt. It was added that despite the increase rate is slight; it still continuing.

Last week, the Ministry of Health said that the increase of coronavirus cases still manageable and not high.

The ministry added that Egypt is still at the beginning of the third wave, and there are measures to push to reduce the cases while providing full support to the governorates in which the infection rates have recently increased.

The Ministry also noted that Upper Egypt governorates have the highest infection rates; however, all means of support were given to hospitals and authorities to control the hike.

Egypt recorded on Sunday 953 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 222,523.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 51 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 13,049.

As many as 567 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 167,024 so far, the spokesman said.
