CAIRO – 13 April 2021: The Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF) has released important figures on the development of unplanned areas in Egypt as part of an ambitious plan to relocate inhabitants of hazardous areas and develop others areas.
 
Here are some of the figures:
 
1 – A total of 312 informal settlements have been developed out of 357 informal settlement areas in the state’s development plan.
2 – Development in 45 informal settlements is still underway.
3 – All informal settlements will have been developed by the end of 2021.
4 – The cost of informal settlement development has amounted to L.E.39 billion.
5 – There are 152,000 feddans of informal settlements in Egypt, accounting for 37 percent of urban space in the country. They are expected to be developed by 2030. 
6 – A total of 30 unplanned markets have been developed out of 1,150 markets. Work at 15 markets is underway.
7 – An estimated cost of L.E.44 billion has been allocated to develop unplanned markets.
8 – A total of 53 informal settlements on 4,616 feddans have been developed out of 152,000 feddans in the state’s plan.
9 – Work has been launched in 79 informal settlements on 6,941 feddans.
10 – An estimated cost of L.E.318 billion has been allocated to develop informal settlements.
