Lebanon stability reflects on entire Arab nation: Egypt’s FM Shoukry

CAIRO – 12 April 2021: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, said that Egypt has always been interested in the Lebanese issue, as there is a ‘close connection between the two people of Egypt and Lebanon’.

He added in statements to ‘al Kahera wal Nas’ channel, that the stability of Lebanon means the stability of the entire Arab nation.

He said that the Lebanese people have been suffering during the last period, especially since Beirut port explosion, August 2020. “Beirut has been witnessing a deterioration in the economic conditions, in addition to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.”

“We call for the quick forming of a specialized government to take the necessary measures towards reform needed,” Shoukry said.

He pointed out that he discussed with the Lebanese leaders the importance of upholding the national interest and moving away from political accommodation or narrow interests in order to take into account the Lebanese people.

 He affirmed Egypt's willingness to stand in support of Lebanon to achieve its stability.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited Lebanon last week and meet with Lebanese President Michel Aoun along with other officials in the government. He held a press conference and underlined Egypt's strong keenness on security and stability of Lebanon.

“To attain the target, the current state of political deadlock must stop through speeding up the formation of a salvation government in order to achieve interests of the Lebanese people”, said Shoukry.
