CAIRO - 6 April 2020: Egypt had detected 767 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 205,732.

In a statement by the Health Ministry on Monday, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 47 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 12,210.

As many as 355 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 156,574 so far, the spokesman said.

Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed stated that 148,987 medics and citizens of priority (aged above 40 and/or suffering from chronic diseases) have got vaccinated until the evening of April 3.

The minister instructed extending working hours at vaccination centers from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. as well as increasing the number of medical staff at those facilities. However, she urged serving a maximum of 100 citizens per day.

The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 131.7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2.86 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
