Egypt detects 710 new coronavirus cases, 39 fatalities

CAIRO - 4 April 2020: The Health Ministry said Saturday that 710 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 204,256.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 39 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 12,123.



As many as 438 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 155,886 so far, the spokesman said.

 

Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed stated Sunday that 148,987 medics and citizens of priority (aged above 40 and/or suffering from chronic diseases) have got vaccinated until the evening of April 3.

 

The minister instructed extending working hours at vaccination centers from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. as well as increasing the number of medical staff at those facilities. However, she urged serving a maximum of 100 citizens per day.
