CAIRO – 31 March 2021: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Wednesday a phone call from Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safdy within the periodic consultation and coordination between both sides.

 

Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Ahmed Hafez said that the call tackled the preparations that are underway for the upcoming trilateral summit among Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq.

 

Both ministers also exchanged views on regional matters such the Palestinian Cause. Shokry and Safdy agreed on building upon the outcomes of the quartet meeting held on March 11 in Paris by Egypt, Jordan, France, and Germany in order to create a climate favorable for launching negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis. The goal must be achieving the two-state solutions with the capital of the Palestinian state being Eastern Jerusalem.

 

The two ministers also tapped on the developments on the Libyan and Syrian scenes, as well as the updates of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.
