CAIRO - 28 March 2020: The Health Ministry said Saturday that 683 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 199,364 .


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 41 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 11,845.

As many as 444 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 152,642 so far, the spokesman said.

Head of the central administration for preventive medicine affairs at the Ministry of Health Mohamed Abdel Fattah affirmed that a large quantity of coronavirus vaccine will arrive in Egypt within the next few days.

This comes as Health Minister Hala Zayed said Egypt is expected to receive 5 million AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine doses by the end of this month and another 3 million doses by May.
