CAIRO - 27 March 2020: Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh offered his sincere condolences to the Egyptian people over the victims of a deadly train collision that took place in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Sohag on Friday, leaving scores of people dead and injured.

Dbeibeh also extended his sympathy to Egyptians in general and the victims' families in particular, Al Wasat news gate reported.

On Friday,  two trains collided in Tahta township in Sohag, leaving 32 people dead and 165 others injured. 

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has vowed “deterrent punishment” over the collision, stressing his determination to end a “pattern of such disasters."

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly vowed that the government will continue to upgrade railway projects to prevent deadly train accidents.

However, he warned that similar accidents might occur until the government completes the overhauling of the railway system.
