CAIRO - 23 March 2020: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed means of boosting relations between Egypt and Somilia with Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohamed Abdirizak.

 

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said Egypt attaches great importance to achieving the security and stability of Somalia and urges all the Somali parties to continue talks with the aim of holding fair elections in the country.



The meeting also reviewed efforts made to promote stability in the Horn of Africa region, the spokesman added.

 

The meeting, attended by the Somali minister of state for presidential affairs, tackled ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation ties in various fields in a way that helps achieve the common interests of the Egyptian and Somali peoples, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said.

 

Egypt is keen on following up the latest developments in East Africa and the Horn of Africa in light of its presidency of the African Union in addition to boosting cooperation at the bilateral level at the different domains.
