Maybe it was the power inherent in their simplicity, written at a time far removed from the political circus act into which he was dragged in later years. Or perhaps it’s because they haven’t lost their relevance more than half a century later, serving to this day as words that should ring a bell with those who have lost sight of their cause by getting bogged down in factional politics.
