| 52 Weekends -- Escape! Make a run for the Red Sea, escape to Upper Egypt or cruise to the North Coast. But before you plan that perfect weekend, dive in to our sixth annual guide to getting away from it all. I can’t say I like 52 Weekends, the issue you now hold in your hands. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it editorially or structurally, just that there’s a bit too much toil for the staff and not quite enough hard news to warm my old soul in return. That said, I do love the idea that lay behind it when we first launched it so many years ago: Weekends are sacred. It’s a simple idea, and if it was relevant when we first conceived this annual special issues six years ago, it’s even more so now.
