| LivingPoets Society The lives and legacies of Fouad Haddad and Salah Jaheen, two of the nations most revered poets, intertwine in their very talented families There is something strange going on outside Al-Sawy Culture Wheel. Hundreds of predominantly young people are filing in, crowding around the ticket booth, trying to find a seat as close to the stage as possible. Have I strayed towards the wrong venue? I know I am not going to a pop concert. I do not do pop concerts, or hardly ever. I wanted to watch El-Watan Wahed (the Nation is One), an evening dedicated to the poetry of Fouad Haddad (19301985), the father of Egyptian ammiyya (colloquial) poetry. And here I am, surrounded by hordes of youth.
