The soundtrack to our politics, trials, tribulations and a complex relationship with an enchanting homeland.
April 8, 2012

Seeing the turbulent political times we’re going through, and the constant fretting and sweating over this country’s future, it only seems appropriate to get a little political. I couldn’t help but dedicate this week’s playlist to the turbulent, messy, controversial, loud, busy, confusing and simply mesmerizing Egypt.

Editor’s note: Hona El Kahera (This is Cairo) by Aly El Haggar is not a retro song, but because it is definitely classic in my book, allow me to make an exception and include it in this retro playlist. Words by Sayed Hegab, the song truly tells the story of the multi-colored, contrasting and confusing Cairo — seemed extremely relevant at the moment, enjoy.
